NFL Week 4 Picks: Targeting Cardinals vs. 49ers and Patriots vs. Cowboys

The afternoon NFL slate gives us some big spreads, with all three games coming in with spreads of six points or higher. With that said, I have a very square play that I just cannot see losing (knock on wood). Sure, it's not the most genius play ever, but if it's a winner, it's a winner. Let's get into it.

So I made this alt spread parlay on FanDuel because not every book has teasers, but if you can play a teaser, just tease it, and it comes out to almost the same spread, except the Cowboys go to +1 and the odds are -120 (depending on your book, of course).

As I said earlier, it doesn't take a genius to take this play. I'm playing on two key storylines here: The Cowboys bouncing back and the Cardinals in a letdown. Coincidentally, they correlate, as the Cardinals beat Dallas outright last week as 11.5-point underdogs.

This week, the Cardinals travel to San Francisco for a divisional matchup. The 49ers pretty easily beat the Cardinals in both games last year, winning 38-10 and 38-13. The 49ers have one of, if not the best, defensive line in the NFL, a veteran secondary, and one of the scariest offenses in the league led by a cast of Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle. Brock Purdy is the new-age game manager who just has to take care of the ball and lead his receivers, and he does both excellently. The 49ers may be the most well-balanced team in the NFL, and this is a prime letdown spot for the Cardinals after beating the Cowboys last week.

Speaking of the Cowboys, oh boy. The Cowboys trotted through weeks one and two, beating the Giants 40-0 and then the Rodgers-less Jets 30-10. The hype from the offseason carried over into two blowouts, and Cowboys fans across the nation were ecstatic, but then the Cardinals threw a wrench in their celebration by beating them by two scores. Are the Cowboys as bad as they played last week? Certainly not. I think they got caught sleeping a bit and last week served as a major wake-up call. Expect a MUCH, MUCH, more focused Cowboys unit to take the field in Dallas this week. They are back at home and play a Patriots team that has started 1-2 and has been playing pretty mid-football so far this season. Their first win came against Zach Wilson and the Jets, although they did play two closer games against the Dolphins and Eagles. Still, they lost both of those games, and they will be outmatched here again against another one of the best defensive lines in football that will be getting to Mac Jones all day. The Cowboys should not lose this game, just like the 49ers should win by at least seven today. Only -115 if both happen.
