Bears vs. Commanders Prediction, Pick, Odds: It's Do or Die for Bears Matt Eberflus

The Chicago Bears were thought to have so much potential this year.

Instead, they've begun the season 0-4, with no hope remaining.

Yes. No hope remains after their 21-point lead vanished in a three-point loss to the Broncos last weekend.

They'll take on the Washington Commanders, who are only 2-2 this season. However, the Commanders just took the Eagles into overtime on the road.

The Bears need an upset win for Head Coach Matt Eberflus to hold on to his job. It's unlikely against Washington. Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Thursday's game between the Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders.

Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders Prediction

The Chicago Bears are one of the worst teams in the NFL. However, talent-wise, that's not the case.

The Bears can run the football well between Justin Fields, Khalil Herbert, and Roschon Johnson. However, the offensive line hasn't performed well in the run game or pass protection.

Last week, Justin Fields took advantage of more time in the pocket. He went 28-for-35 and added 335 yards passing against the Broncos. The former Ohio State prospect also threw four touchdowns. However, he only took off in the run game four times for 25 yards, which is typically unlikely for him.

Fields is super dynamic but can't seem to blend his pocket presence with his ability to run. You get one or the other.

He'll face a solid Washington defense that has been above average this year. The Commanders have allowed 366.8 yards per game, including 244.3 in the air. But there's not a single area where they're fragile.

Meanwhile, the Bears are incredibly weak on defense. They've allowed over 387 yards per game, with 272 yards coming in the pass game. The Bears have missed many tackles and can't stop the run well. More importantly, the secondary has been horrible, and the pass rush has been ineffective.

Sam Howell and the Commanders have earned 334.3 yards per game offensively. But in this one, you can expect higher numbers.

Howell has thrown for four touchdowns and five interceptions. He's also been sacked at a very high rate. But he's got a lot of talent around him at the skill positions. With the offensive line performing at a higher level, Howell should have success in the air.

Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson have done their part in the run game, adding over 120 yards per game on the ground.

Chicago is doomed.

Take the Commanders at home.
