These two teams have been involved in some high scoring games to this point with a lot of yards. The perfect recipe to cook up a same game parlay. Let's break one down for tonight's Thursday Night Football matchup between the Bears and Commanders.
Bears vs. Commanders Date, Time, and Where to Watch
- Date: October 5, 2023
- Game Time: 8:15 pm ET
- Where to Watch: Prime Video
Leg 1: Justin Fields 25+ Rushing yards
Justin Fields turned some heads last season as he did a lot of damage on the ground as he ran for over 1100 yards on over seven yards per carry. Fast forward to this season and he has not had the same type of success on the ground... yet. So far on the season he is averaging just under 34 rushing yards per carry, but I expect him to have a bigger night on the ground as he should be scrambling for his life against a solid Washington pass rush. The Commanders are ranked 26th in defensive yards allowed per carry but are 6th in sack percentage, so do not stop designed runs very well but also get a lot of pressure on the quarterback. The perfect recipe for Fields to have success on any designed run while also providing ample scramble opportunities when the play breaks down. This could be the game Fields breaks through with his legs as we have not seen a breakout rushing game to this point but 25+ yards should be a small feat for him tonight in this matchup.
Leg 2: Brian Robinson 40+ Rushing yards
Brian Robinson has established himself as the No. 1 back in this offense and has topped 40+ yards in each game this season. He is also coming off his worst game of the season as he only tallied 45 yards on 3.2 yards per carry but that was against the Eagles who have one of the best front sevens in the league, and the running game also was game scripted out a bit in the fourth quarter as the Commanders were forced to throw to get back in the game. Robinson is averaging 15 carries per game this season on around 4.3 yards per tote. In a game where the Commanders are somewhat heavily favored, there could be a lot of work to be had for Robinson in the fourth quarter if this game gets out of hand. The Bears have also allowed the lead back of their opponents to rush for at least 40+ yards in each game this season (Jones:41, White: 73, Pacheco: 62, Edwards-Helaire: 55, and McLaughlin: 72). I expect Robinson to top 60 yards in this game but 40 on the ground should be very attainable.
Leg 3: Terry McLaurin 25+ Receiving yards
Terry McLaurin is the No, 1 receiver on this team and is the main big play threat downfield. He has been Sam Howell's favorite target to this point as he leads the team in targets with 26 (6.5 per game) and is coming off his best game of the season as he reeled in eight of 10 targets for 86 yards against the Eagles last week. McLaurin has caught 21 of his 26 targets to this point (81%) so the Howell/McLaurin connection appears to be very strong and efficient. McLaurin has topped at least 31 yards in every game to this point and could easily exceed 25+ yards on a single catch as he can stretch the field on any play. The Bears allowed 4 different receivers on the Broncos to top 25+ yards last week, six different receivers on the Chiefs topped 25+ yards, four different receivers on the Bucs did it, and four more different receivers on the Packers were also able to top 25+ yards against the Bears in Week 1. This has been a very bad passing defense for the Bears to this point and McLaurin should be able to top 25+ yards tonight as the No. 1 option.
