Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders Player Prop: Will Justin Fields Struggle on TNF?

Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders Player Prop: Will Justin Fields Struggle on TNF?

Justin Fields looked much better last week, but that was against the Denver Broncos atrocious defense. This week, he’ll be tasked with facing an elite defensive line on the road with a short week of preparation. Although he eclipsed 300 yards through the air last week, he still threw an interception. Fields has thrown at least one pick in eight of his last ten games. Will he throw another interception against one of the most slept on defenses in the NFL tonight?

Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders Prediction

The Washington Commanders defense is starting to heat up. They do this every year; they start out slow, and by week five their defense finally shows up. I am fully expecting Chase Young, Montez Sweat and the rest of this DL to dominate in the trenches tonight. Fields will have limited time in the pocket to throw the deep ball. If the Chicago Bears coaching staff is smart, they’ll game plan accordingly, sticking to the run game and quick passes over the middle.

I have this Washington DL inside the top five in the league. They are getting better every week, and Chase Young already has over two sacks through his first three games of the season. Justin Fields is going to have two or three seconds to throw the ball at most. Expect the Bears to lean on their run game with Khalil Herbert coming off his best game of the young season.

This Washington defense is solid, but their secondary could be better. Fuller is one of the best coverage-corners in the NFL, but their first round pick Forbes struggled last week against AJ Brown. This team’s strength is their defensive line. Their secondary is good enough in coverage, but they don’t have any hands! They’ve seen plenty of poor passes thrown their way this season, but they’ve only come up with two interceptions in the first five games. This team still lacks a “ball-hawk” in their secondary.

I’m not saying Washington’s secondary is going to struggle tonight, but I’d be surprised if they intercept Justin Fields. Unless it’s on a late-game Hail Mary, I’m not expecting Fields to stretch the field tonight. He simply isn’t going to have time in the pocket to let his receivers get down field. The Bears will rely on Herbert, Johnson, quick passes and Fields’ legs to move the chains.

Betting on Justin Fields to throw an interception tonight looks like the easiest play on the board. He’s (-150) on some books to throw a pick. I’m not surprised at all considering he’s thrown six interceptions in his last five games. Something tells me this Commanders’ secondary does their job tonight limiting big plays, but they don’t come up with an interception. Justin Fields knows that he’s on borrowed time, and the only way besides winning to keep the Bears from drafting Caleb Williams at this point is seeing significant growth from their young starting QB.

I have no issues if you want to fade Justin Fields and the disappointing Bears tonight, just don’t do it with his interception prop. This Washington secondary doesn’t have enough playmakers who come up with interceptions, and until Forbes shows signs of growth, I feel comfortable betting on Fields to not throw an interception. You can get this at plus-money on the books, lock this in and enjoy the sweat; this one won’t be easy.
