Dolphins vs. Chiefs Prediction
We're so used to seeing the Chiefs win that many analysts haven't acknowledged Kansas City's weaknesses this year.
They've got a lot of them.
The Chiefs are always going to be a Super Bowl contender. But they haven't looked like one so far this season.
Kansas City has averaged under 400 yards per game on offense, with only 105.1 yards on the ground. Many of those rushing yards are from Patrick Mahomes, who is running away from pressure.
For example, Mahomes has 234 yards rushing on 36 attempts this season. So the running game hasn't performed very well. Meanwhile, no receiver has more than 30 receptions this season besides Travis Kelce.
The third-leading receiver is Justin Watson, with 12 catches for 261 yards. That's not what we're used to in Kansas City.
While the offense has still performed well, it could be better. On defense, the run defense has been brutal, while the secondary has played average at best. The Chiefs have allowed 307.1 yards per game. However, they're able to be beaten on the ground.
Now that they're facing the Dolphins, you can expect the Chiefs to get fooled by the Dolphins in the run game. Raheem Mostert already has 520 yards rushing on 97 carries with ten touchdowns. Look for Mostert and the Dolphins run game to have a day.
Plus, the secondary won't be able to keep up with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. That's just the reality in Kansas City right now.
On the other hand, the Dolphins have played better defense. They've allowed more points and yards. But that's also because the Dolphins have scored so quickly, giving each game more possessions.
Miami's secondary got a boost with Jalen Ramsey. The pass rush has also been very consistent to begin the year. Like the Chiefs, Miami has missed a lot of tackles, but I still like the Miami run defense more.
While Isiah Pacheco is a quality running back, the Chiefs aren't a significant threat on the ground. As long as the Dolphins lock up Travis Kelce, Kansas City's passing game isn't very electric.
Therefore, I'll ride with the Dolphins at +2.5 in Frankfurt.
