Thursday Night Football Prediction: Can The Steelers Stop Will Levis, Titans?

Will Levis dazzled last week in his first ever game as a starting quarterback in the NFL against the Falcons as he threw for four touchdown passes and led his team to a win. Can he re-create that type of performance tonight? Let’s break it down.

Tennessee Titans vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Prediction

Last week for Will Levis and the Titans was a great story as he threw for four touchdowns and 238 yards in a home win against the Falcons as underdogs. In this past year’s NFL draft, Levis had been slotted to go top-10 overall, but inexplicably fell and was not a first round draft pick as he was the last one in the green room on draft night.

I’m sure this had to motivate Levis a bit as many teams passed on him, and he showed out when he finally got his opportunity last week against the Falcons. Levis threw some absolute dimes last week, including three long touchdown passes. He was not simply just dinking and dunking passes around the line of scrimmage all game as many rookie QBs do. This also shows how much trust the Tennessee coaching staff has in Levis to call those types of plays in his first ever NFL start.

While last week was a great showing for Levis and what his potential ceiling could be, I do not think he will have the same success tonight on the road in a short week. He is going against a very stout Steelers defense who is getting one of their best defensive players back in Cameron Heyward. The Steelers always find themselves in close games as their offense has been very anemic this season, but one constant for Pittsburgh this year has been a defense that forces a lot of turnovers, and makes plays when they need to.

The Steelers are also coming off a fairly lackluster performance against Jacksonville last week, where they only scored 10 points on offense. Another thing that Pittsburgh has done well this season is bounce back after losses, as they defeated the Browns in week 2 on prime time via two defensive touchdowns after suffering a loss in their opening game. They also bounced back after a loss to Houston, as they defeated the Ravens at home by score of 17 to 10 in a game where their defense was a huge reason why they won.

This should be a very low scoring and grind it out type game, but I have to give the edge to the Steelers who are getting healthier by the week and have the much better defense. The Minkah Fitzpatrick injury is concerning but it is very hard to trust a rookie quarterback in his second ever start on the road in a short week. I do think Levis will be better than a lot of people anticipated, but this is a very bad spot for him and the Titans in a game which I anticipate Levis to struggle and potentially turn the ball over multiple times. With that being said, I am rolling with Steelers ML at -145 odds for 1.5 units as my most confident NFL play of the day for tonight’s action.
