If I hear one more person talk about Patrick Mahomes being sick, or Taylor Swift sitting in the suite at the Kansas City Chiefs game, I am going to explode. Let’s address the former: why are people acting like Mahomes isn’t going to be feeling better after a week?

Even with the long trip over to Germany, I’m not understanding the Mahomes hate. Could it be because they’re playing the trendy Dolphins, who have one of the fastest offenses the league has ever seen? Maybe it’s because Mahomes is coming off debatably the worst performance of his NFL career. Either way, the stock is low on Kansas City right now, and I want to buy in on the best coach and quarterback in the league.
The Chiefs lose one game as a big favorite and everyone jumps off their bandwagon. This is when I want to hop on the Chiefs bandwagon, after an embarrassing loss to the measly Broncos. The public is loving the Dolphins this week, with over 60% of the bets already backing Miami on the moneyline in this spot. Let’s fade the public when the stock on Mahomes is low.
Everyone is talking about Mahomes being sick, but nobody is talking about Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle being banged-up. Tua Tagovailoa’s star receivers have been in and out of the injury report for the last couple weeks, and we’re only halfway through the season.
This stat might surprise you, but Kansas City has given up the second-fewest yards per game through the air this season. The Chiefs secondary has stepped up their game, with guys like L’Jarius Sneed and Justin Reid leading the way. We already knew the Chiefs had an above-average defensive line with Chris Jones running loose, but with this much-improved secondary, the Chiefs are no longer a defensive liability.
The Chiefs opened up a three-point favorite before the line moved almost to a Pick ’Em. The Chiefs are now catching steam, with the line on the more and currently up to -2 at the time of writing this article. This movement is a great sign for Chiefs backers, considering the Dolphins are a public dog. Fade the ‘Phins, and back Patrick Mahomes to bounce back after a brutal performance in Denver.
