Sam LaPorta is quickly becoming one of my favorite players in the league. For a rookie tight end he is playing absolutely out of his mind. He is averaging nearly 5.4 receptions per game and 54 yards. The guy is making a lot of teams feeling silly for passing on him.

He has a great matchup on Sunday. He gets the Chargers who allow the fifth most receptions to tight ends. LaPorta is on the cusp of already being elite at the position. When Los Aangeles faces elite tight ends they typically dice them up. Travis Kelce with 12 receptions and T.J. Hockenson with eight so both did their thing. Even Cole Kmet had ten receptions and Tyler Conklin had a career high with six last week.
The defensive focus will likely be on stopping Amon-Ra St. Brown, so LaPorta will be open in a game that should be a shootout. LaPorta is five for eight on this prop with all three misses coming in games that Detroit has won by two touchdowns or more. I see the Chargers keeping this one close and keeping Detroit passing throughout. Let's roll!
