New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Dak Prescott, Cowboys Run Up the Score?

One of the ugliest games on the Week 10 slate will give us Tommy Devito and the injury-plagued New York Giants against the Dallas Cowboys on the road during Sunday's late afternoon slate.

It's the biggest spread we've seen this season, as the Giants are getting +17.5 ATS against a Cowboys defense that plays better at home and already dominated a healthier New York offense 40-0 on the road back in Week 1. Dak Prescott tends to play his best football against the Giants as well, so pair this with the lack of available players on both offense and defense for New York, and it's easy to see why oddsmakers have next to no faith in the Giants ability to compete in this matchup.

The game still has to be played, there are no mercy rules, so handicapping this NFC East matchup is a necessity. There's still plenty of good betting markets to exploit in this game, so despite how one-sided it could become, we're going to find the best bet to wager. NFL handicapper Matt MacKay is back to give us his latest prediction and pick for the New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys.

New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys Prediction

The injury report for New York is insane. Dallas' defense should have no issues, especially up front, with Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence feasting on pressures against second and third-string offensive linemen for the Giants.

Dallas' defense could once again be the stars of the show, allowing Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to relax a bit on offense after going off for a multi-week stretch. The Cowboys allow 30.2 percent of opponent drives to end in a score, which ranks fifth-lowest in the league, so Devito has his work cut out for him with only Saquon Barkley available to lean on.

Conversely, New York's offense is averaging 4.1 yards per play, 32nd in the league behind bad offenses like Carolina. We saw the Giants get trounced against the Raiders last week with Devito and he'll have limited options in his receiving corps, as Darren Waller remains on I.R. due to a hamstring injury. This game really boils down to the trenches and how badly the Giants offensive line will be mismatched.

Tony Pollard has been largely pedestrian and hasn't accounted for as many explosive plays in 2023 that we predicted, but he'll have a golden opportunity to do so against New York, allowing 4.6 rushing yards per attempt, which is fourth-worst in the league. The Giants have also surrendered 13 rushing touchdowns, the second-most this season, while also allowing 6.4 net yards per pass attempt, which is fifth-worst amongst all 32 defensive units.

Whether it's on the ground with Pollard or through the air to Lamb and Jake Ferguson, Dallas is -17.5 ATS for a reason. It's still too many points to back. The point total is set to 39.5, which is likely based on Dallas winning 40-0 over New York to open the season. All three of the Cowboys' home games this season have reached at least 40 total points, so in a game where we'll likely see them win 38-3 or 40-0 yet again, staking a unit on over 39.5 total points is a sound investment to make.
