Jaguars vs. Texans Prediction
The Texans haven't been consistent on the defensive end. The secondary has played well, along with the pass rush. However, the Houston defense has allowed 96.5 yards on the ground while missing tons and tons of tackles per game.
The Texans are way worse than the box score shows against the run.
However, the Jaguars only add 108.7 yards per game on the ground this season. Travis Etienne Jr. has rushed for 670 yards and seven touchdowns, but he hasn't been a great runner.
Part of the reason is that the Jaguars have one of the worst run-block offensive lines in the NFL.
On the other hand, the Texans have added 277.7 yards in the air per game behind C.J. Stroud. Jacksonville has a very good secondary, but it's still allowed 254.4 yards per game in the air.
It's not really the secondary's fault. It's the Jacksonville pass rush that rarely gets in the backfield to create chaos. If the pass rush isn't good, eventually, receivers will get open in the secondary.
That's what will likely happen in this game.
Stroud has thrown 17 touchdowns and just five interceptions this year. He's outplayed most quarterbacks as a rookie.
That won't change. Stroud is in the MVP race for a reason. Houston's offense is way more reliable than Jacksonville's despite both teams scoring about 23 points per game. It just took Houston some time to get going.
At home, in a rivalry, divisional matchup, I've got the Texans rallying past the Jaguars on Sunday.
