Thursday Night Football this week features two young quarterbacks in Easton Stick of the Chargers and Aidan O'Connell of the Raiders. These two teams enter tonight's game with a 5-8 record, and both need a win badly. The Raiders just got shut out at home last week, 3-0 against the Vikings, while the Chargers fell to the Broncos 24-7. Starting quarterback Justin Herbert also got injured in that game, which is why Easton Stick will make the first start of his NFL career tonight. Can he do enough to keep the Chargers in it or even win?

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers Prediction
If Easton Stick had a healthy offense around him, I'd be a lot more confident in him tonight. However, he doesn't. Mike Williams is still on the IR, and Keenan Allen is out tonight as well, leaving Joshua Palmer and the struggling Quentin Johnston out wide.
Stick is a product of NDSU and ran a very game-manager-esque offense at NDSU, which translates well to the NFL. He is also very athletic and can scramble to escape the pocket and pick up yards with his legs. This is why I am going with tonight's play in this game.
Stick had 677 rushing yards in 15 games his senior year at NDSU. He had three straight seasons of 650+ rushing yards in his college career from his sophomore to senior year, and he averaged 46 rushing yards per game in his college career. That's even more impressive in college when sacks count against your rushing yards, unlike the NFL.
Stick ran a 4.6 40-yard dash in the combine and is a very fast runner. He uses those legs, too. In his appearances in preseason games, he has run when he has the chance. In the 2023 preseason, Stick split time with Max Duggan, but in the lone game as the sole quarterback, Easton Stick had 7 rushing attempts for 63 rushing yards against the Saints. His line is 18.5 rushing yards tonight at DraftKings, and it has been rising all day since opening at 10.5 on some books. Anything under 20, and I think it's a great bet. The Chargers don't have the elite receivers to beat the Raiders through the air, so Stick and the ground game will have to take care of this one if they want to win.
