ANALYSIS

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Buffalo Bills Best Bet: Should You Trust Mason Rudolph, Steelers in AFC Wild Card Game?

Nobody believes in Mason Rudolph or the Pittsburgh Steelers in this spot. The Bills were once beatable, towards the beginning of the season, but have since looked unstoppable of late. Nobody in their right mind is going to fade Josh Allen and this surging Bills team right now… right? Well, we might not have a choice…

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Buffalo Bills Prediction

Kenny Pickett has been benched, and T.J. Watt will miss this game due to injury, but the Steelers still have Mike Tomlin as their head coach, which means they have a chance. Honestly, with how the Pittsburgh offense has looked the last three games, we should probably be taking them more seriously.

The Steelers had to win their last three games of the regular season just to have a chance at making the playoffs. Well, they’re here, and typically the team that gets doubled the most in the playoffs ends up making their game close. This weekend, that system is 100% the Steelers.

Nobody wants to bet on this team. Their best defender is hurt, their backup QB is in, and there’s nothing exciting about watching this team— but they win. Mike Tomlin is one of the best coaches in the NFL, and I’m willing to bet he will have his guys fired up to go play in a snow-game up in Buffalo.

A cold snow-game could honestly benefit the Steelers in this contest. Their rushing defense has been elite over the last three games, giving up less than 85 yards per game on the ground. The Bills can’t say the same; they are middle-of-the-pack in rushing defense this season. If Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren can produce like they have been down the stretch, this game might be closer than people expect.

I’m not saying the Steelers are going to fly into Buffalo, grab some wings and beat the Bills outright. I do think they are fully capable of keeping this game within ten points against a franchise that notoriously melts. The Bills went to four straight Super Bowls, and lost every single one of them. This franchise has historically folded in big spots, and with a turnover-prone quarterback under center, who knows what might happen tonight.

Instead of backing Josh Allen and the Bills to perfect execute in the freezing cold against one of the best-run organizations in all of sports, let’s grab the points with Mike Tomlin and the terrible towel’s here. With how they’ve looked the last month, I still think this Steelers team is underrated with Rudolph under center.
