Well this is the first of multiple articles for Championship weekend but I want to start off with a teaser I love while the lines are sitting where I want them to be, let's dive in.
Conference Championship Betting Picks
Kansas City vs. Baltimore Ravens Prediction
I have been all over the place with my read and opinion on this game but I have come to my conclusion. I cannot justify in my right mind not taking a ten point spread with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, it is quite literally unjustifiable. Patrick Mahomes is 8-0-1 ATS as a road dog and that number would be four, we are playing ten; over his last eight playoff games he is 7-1 with a 70.3% comp, 21/3 touchdown/interception ratio and is averaging just under 300 ypg in the air.
The offense is nothing like it was two years ago in terms of threats at wideout but Mahomes is learning to work the short/intermediate routes more methodically and is still there to hit you deep with accuracy all game long, not to mention Kelce is heating up. Andy Reid is one of the best coaches in the Super Bowl Era, this team will be ready and hungry to get back there. I find it far more reasonable to assume the Chiefs win or lose by less than ten than assume the Ravens stomp Mahomes by two touchdowns.
Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers Prediction
I think the best team in the NFC won last week bringing maybe their C+ game (at best) to the table. San Francisco snuck away with the win, the better team moved on but now they have something to really prove: they had their luck, now earn it. Last year they were robbed of the Super Bowl appearance after losing all their quarterbacks in the conference championship game and were forced to watch the Eagles move on. They will not let the lesser team move on again this year, they will not blow this chance.
I am not trying to be dramatic, the Lions story is awesome and they will be good for a while but this San Francisco team is in it's fourth title game in five years and still has not won the big game yet, this is their time to go do it. Win and you get a chance at revenge in either way whether that be the Chiefs a few years ago or Ravens a few weeks ago. They are so well rounded and well coached on both sides of the ball, they have the superstars and the home field advantage. Detroit has played one game outside of a Dome in three months, give me the better team at home.
