7 minsNFC Championship Sunday Player Props: Top Anytime TD Scorer Bets for Lions vs. 49ers
The NFC Championship has arrived, featuring a familiar face and a surprising newcomer. The San Francisco 49ers will host the upstart Detroit Lions on Sunday evening, with a bid to the Super Bowl on the line.
One notable star may be absent, as Deebo Samuel awaits a medical clearance that may not arrive. The Niners' wide receiver injured his shoulder in the Divisional Round win over the Packers, and the team may be without his services this weekend. That drastically changes the touchdown odds market, so several other contributors may need to step up.
Which weapon from these high-scoring offenses will find the end zone on Sunday night? There are a lot of superstar options, but we'll narrow it down to the best choices to find our anytime touchdown scorers for Lions vs. 49ers.
NFC Championship Sunday Top Anytime TD Bets
Brandon Aiyuk (-110) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
With the injury to Deebo Samuel, his status is up in the air for Sunday's game. Whether he plays or not, it is unlikely that he will be close to 100%, and won't be able have a major impact on the game. If they are able to trot him out, the Niners will be forced to use him in more of a decoy role.
Brock Purdy had a rough game against the Packers in the Divisional Round. He completed only 58% of his passes, but it was raining and he hadn't played a game in almost three weeks. It's expected to be 70 and sunny at game time in Santa Clara this week, and Purdy should be back to his regular self after getting the playoff nerves out. The Lions secondary has been weak, and he will be able to exploit them to find his leading receiver. Aiyuk was open across the middle several times on Saturday, but they were unable to establish a strong connection amid the weather and Purdy's accuracy struggles. That'll change against the Lions, so look for Aiyuk to step up in Deebo's absence and have a big game as the Niners surge towards the Super Bowl.
Jauan Jennings (+333) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
Jennings is another player who will be primed to step up in the absence of Deebo Samuel. Jennings has become a much bigger piece of the offense in recent weeks, and racked up five grabs for 61 yards on Saturday against the Packers.
Jennings has been a clear-cut no. 3 receiver for the Niners, and has excelled with possession grabs. He may not be the fastest guy on the team, but he has great hands and an aggressive style that helps him connect with Brock Purdy. He impressed in the Divisional Round after Deebo went down, and he will get a lot of looks from Purdy this week against a weaker Lions' defense.
Jahmyr Gibbs (+145) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
The Detroit Lions are going to have their hands full against the Niners defense, and as a result, their four best players are all in the second tier of touchdown scorers. The Niners lead the odds with McCaffrey, Aiyuk, and Kittle before Gibbs, St. Brown, Montgomery and LaPorta follow them up. Part of that is because they are favored, and partly because Deebo's absence is deflating the odds for the other three stars. Regardless of the odds, the Lions will find a way to score one way or another. The total is 51 in this game, and the Niners defense looked mediocre against the Packers for the most part.
While you could make a case for any of the Lions top four weapons, we are going to go with the most explosive guy for this NFC Championship game. Gibbs has scored in both of the Lions' playoff games, and has reached the end zone seven times in his last seven games. After a slow start, he has truly found his role in the Lions offense. With all of them bunched up between +140 and +175, we will go with the guy that gets the most opportunities. While not only splitting carries with Montgomery, Gibbs is the top option out of the backfield that earns him more red zone chances. He has great vision, and breaks loose for 15-25 yard gains on a regular basis. While Montgomery is more one-sided in the red zone, Gibbs has the outside flair and can find the gaps that give him a touchdown from the high red zone.
