The San Francisco 49ers are going for another crack at the Super Bowl on Sunday night, and this time they have some extra help. Christian McCaffrey may have been the last piece of the puzzle to get them to the top of the NFL, and he'll have a chance to prove it against the Kansas City Chiefs.
McCaffrey has been dominant since joining the Niners in the middle of last season. He showed his star early on in his time with the Carolina Panthers, but injuries derailed most of his success. After arriving to San Francisco via trade, it has been nothing but positive results for CMC in Kyle Shanahan's offense.
He's expected to tote the rock heavily in Super Bowl LVIII this weekend, but how will he acquire most of his touches? Let's explore some of McCaffrey's prop offerings as he gets ready to put the 49ers on his back in the Big Game.

Super Bowl LVIII Prop Pick
Christian McCaffrey Over 4.5 Receptions (-120) (Bet $115 to Collect $215)
Christian McCaffrey's rushing prop is set at 91 yards, a massive total for a Super Bowl game where anything can happen. The Chiefs defense has been excellent this year, and if they are stopping him early on or if the Niners go down on the scoreboard, his rushing ability may get limited fast. However, there is no point in the game where he will not be valuable as a pass catcher out of the backfield.
On second or third and long, whether leading or trailing, Brock Purdy and the Niners will always have an outlet out of the backfield with McCaffrey. They have so many playmakers on offense, and when they are covered, the best option will be feeding CMC on a short screen pass as Purdy escapes the pocket. He will be able to pick up several first downs on broken plays and extend drives for his team.
McCaffrey has 11 receptions in just two playoff games so far, and they won't stray away from that gameplan now. Those contests also involved heavy offensive struggles for large portions, so he was able to rack up those stats in spite of it. If the Niners can start with a lead as they did for most of the regular season, he will see even more action with the rock. Let's start it off with McCaffrey over 4.5 receptions at -120 odds, and expecting much more.
Christian McCaffrey to Lead Game in Receptions (+650) (Bet $20 to Collect $150)
Not only are we going to take his over 4.5 receptions, we are going to keep piling on to this prop market. Next up is the ability to lead the game in receptions, which is entirely plausible in a game stacked with stars. There is a plethora of talent on both offenses, and their experienced head coaches know they have to spread the ball around to find success.
In order to win this as a +650 underdog, he will have to eclipse the likes of Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle on his own team, as well as Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce on the other side. With these quarterbacks spreading around to various targets, it is entirely plausible that no one climbs much higher than six catches. McCaffrey has reached six or higher five times this season.
He just had seven receptions in the 49ers' first playoff game, on a whopping 12 targets. He's been on the receiving end of 10+ targets three times this year, and it is clear that Purdy is going to lean on his athleticism out of the backfield. With the Chiefs defense keying in on McCaffrey's rushing, Kyle Shanahan will have to find another way to get CMC the ball in space, and swing passes as well as angle routes will be key for him. Purdy has been shaky in the first two playoff games early on, so Shanahan will look to get McCaffrey the ball on short routes in the first half to establish Purdy's confidence. If the Niners find success with the CMC short passing game instead of the rush, there is no limit to how many targets he can get on Sunday.
Christian McCaffrey Longest Reception 30+ Yards (+2800) (Bet $10 to Collect $290)
To cap it all off, we're going to throw a 0.1 unit bet on a super longshot to spice up the action on Sunday night. Christian McCaffrey is probably going to have the ball in his hands more than anyone else on the field in the Super Bowl. He is the most electric playmaker on either team, and has helped carry the 49ers to this spot.
Given that we already broke down why McCaffrey has a chance to lead the game in receptions with short plays out of the backfield, it is entirely plausible that he breaks off a long run on one of these. His longest reception total is set at 14.5, and if he is going to smash through that number, it is most likely going to be on a broken play or a missed tackle from a screen pass. He has the speed to get loose down field, and is notorious for not going down easy. Once he passes the 15 yard mark on a catch, he can easily break free for a 30-yard gain down the sideline. Keep in mind that this is a longshot play, but it has a calculated possibility of occurring in accordance with our other props, and a much better chance than most of the +2800 odds offerings in this game.
