The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Washington Commanders for the NFC Championship game on Sunday afternoon. Most people did not have the Commanders being in the NFC Championship game on their bingo card, but here they are.
The Commanders entered the season expected to finish toward the bottom of the NFC. One season ago, Washington posted a record of 4-13. That poor record earned them the second overall pick in the NFL draft.
Washington selected former Heisman trophy winner Jayden Daniels as second overall, and Daniels has enjoyed one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history. In the offseason, Washington also hired former Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn has been nominated for NFL Coach of the Year.
Washington opened the playoffs with an upset road win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a Zane Gonzalez game-winning field goal. The Commanders followed that up with a 45-31 win on Saturday night over the Detroit Lions. Washington entered that game as a 9.5-point underdog, pulling off one of the biggest upsets in divisional round history.

Commanders vs. Eagles Prediction
Daniels has thrown 567 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions in the postseason. Brian Robinson Jr. leads the rushing attack with 93 yards and two touchdowns. Former North Carolina wideout Dyami Brown has 187 receiving yards and one touchdown in the playoffs, compared to 308 receiving yards and one touchdown during the regular season. The Commanders defense ranks 18th in points allowed per game (23.3).
The Eagles posted a regular season record of 14-3. That strong record earned the Eagles another NFC East Championship. Since 2000, the Eagles have appeared in the most NFC Championship games. Philly is the current betting favorite to win the Super Bowl.
The Eagles opened the postseason with a 22-10 win over the Green Bay Packers. Vic Fangio's defense was the difference in that game, allowing just ten points in the win and forcing three turnovers. The Eagles have dominated the turnover margin in the postseason (6-0).
Last Sunday, the Eagles survived a thriller against the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams appeared to be on the move to take the lead when Jalen Carter delivered the biggest sack of his young career, forcing a 4th & 11 with less than 30 seconds left. The Eagles defense held strong, forcing an incompletion on fourth down.
Saquon Barkley led the Eagles with 205 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Barkley is the front-runner for NFL Offensive Player of the Year. Jalen Hurts has thrown for 259 yards and two touchdowns in the playoffs. There is some concern about Hurts' early play in the postseason.
Tight end Dallas Goedert leads the Eagles with 103 receiving yards in the playoffs and one touchdown. Star wide receiver A.J. Brown has three catches for 10 yards over the first two playoff games. The Eagles defense ranks first in points allowed per game (17.6).
