6 Minute ReadPackers vs. Cowboys Prediction: Can Dallas Keep it Close When Micah Parsons Returns to Town on SNF?
The Dallas Cowboys return home for Sunday Night Football looking to get their season back on track after a frustrating loss last week. With questions surrounding the offense’s consistency and a defense that hasn’t quite lived up to last year’s dominance, this matchup against Green Bay comes at a critical time. A win in primetime would not only steady the Cowboys' footing in the NFC race but also restore confidence in a team still loaded with talent on both sides of the ball.
Green Bay enters the game trying to recover from its first loss of the season, a stunning upset against the Browns. A blocked field goal late in the game shifted the momentum, and Cleveland walked it off with a kick as time expired. Now the Packers face a tough road environment against a Dallas team eager to respond and make a statement in front of their home crowd.
The spotlight will be on Micah Parsons, who makes his return to Dallas after a surprising trade to the Packers earlier this season. His presence adds intensity to an already meaningful matchup, but the Cowboys are focused on the task at hand. If Dak Prescott can find a rhythm and the defense can contain Jordan Love, Dallas has every chance to grab a much-needed win and remind the league they are still contenders.

Packers vs. Cowboys Prediction
Yes, Dallas has its issues—this defense has been rough, ranking 31st in yards per play allowed and giving up 30.6 points per game. They’ve struggled badly on third down, allowing opponents to convert 53% of the time, the worst mark in the NFL.
But there are signs this team can keep it competitive. Dallas has actually held up decently against the run, limiting backs to 3.7 yards per carry. If they can force Jordan Love into obvious passing downs, Green Bay’s offensive line isn’t fully healthy, and that could create some pressure opportunities for the Cowboys’ front.
Offensively, yes, CeeDee Lamb is out, but that just means the Cowboys will need to lean on the ground game and tight end Jake Ferguson, who has seen 12 and 14 targets in back-to-back games. Green Bay has allowed the third-most yards to tight ends this season, so Ferguson could be the go-to option to move the chains.
The Packers’ defense ranks top-5 in pressure rate, but the Cowboys’ offensive line is one of the better run-blocking units in football, ranking third in adjusted line yards. If Dallas can stay balanced early, they can slow the game down and keep this from turning into a shootout.
Green Bay plays at a bottom-five pace, and if they grab a lead, they’re comfortable running the ball and bleeding clock. That actually works in our favor at +7—fewer possessions mean fewer chances for the game to get out of hand.
Historically, home underdogs catching a full touchdown in prime-time games cover at a profitable rate. And even in a tough matchup, Dallas’ home field, run game, and ability to attack Green Bay’s TE coverage make +7 too big to ignore.

This isn’t about Dallas pulling the upset—it’s about the number. At +7, we have room for a one-score game in a slower, grind-it-out script. With Ferguson as a key weapon and the run game keeping things balanced, the Cowboys can hang around long enough to cover. The public is all over the Packers but I’m taking the sharp side tonight with the Cowboys.
