Seahawks vs. Jaguars Prediction: Can Seahawks Take Down Red-Hot Jaguars on Short Week?

The Seahawks head to Jacksonville on Sunday in what might be one of the most mispriced games of the week. The Jaguars are coming off a massive emotional win on Monday night — their biggest of the season — while Seattle quietly sits as the more complete, better-balanced football team.

This is a classic letdown spot for Jacksonville and a great opportunity to grab value on a Seattle team that ranks top five in DVOA and continues to fly under the radar.

Seahawks vs. Jaguars Prediction

Let’s start with the setup. Jacksonville’s win over Kansas City looked impressive on the scoreboard — but dig into the details and you’ll see just how fluky it was. The Jaguars needed a 99-yard pick-six and a chaotic late touchdown to escape a game where the Chiefs actually posted a 64% Success Rate, moving the ball at will.

Now, after that emotional high, the Jags have to regroup on short rest against a Seahawks team that nearly matched that offensive efficiency last week in Tampa Bay — only undone by a few late mistakes.

Seattle is simply the better and more balanced football team right now.

Seahawks vs. Jaguars Key Matchup Stats

Jacksonville’s defense is living on borrowed time. They’ve relied heavily on turnovers to survive, but the cracks are showing — especially through the air. Opponents are picking up 72% of their total yards via the pass, the fifth-highest rate in the NFL.

That’s a big problem against Sam Darnold, who has quietly been a revelation under center for Seattle. Darnold leads the league in yards per attempt, spreading the ball to one of the most complete receiving corps in football.

  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba has broken out as a legitimate WR1 with 534 yards (2nd in the NFL) on 34 catches, catching all but nine of his 43 targets.
  • Cooper Kupp continues to draw attention and create spacing, while tight end AJ Barner is emerging as another mismatch weapon after his breakout performance last week.

The Jaguars’ secondary has already been torched by Patrick Mahomes and Brock Purdy in back-to-back weeks, and now they face the league’s No. 1 passing offense by DVOA. Unless their pass rush (ranked bottom-10 in pressure rate) finds another gear, Darnold and company will move the ball consistently.

Seahawks Defensive Edge

Seattle’s defense has also been far better than most realize. They rank top 10 in sacks per game and are allowing just 3.5 yards per carry on the ground. That’s huge against a Jaguars team that leans heavily on its rushing attack to set up Trevor Lawrence’s passing rhythm.

If the Seahawks’ front can keep Jacksonville in third-and-long — and all signs point to that being the case — it forces Lawrence to throw into one of the league’s fastest and most opportunistic secondaries.

And if Jacksonville falls behind early, the script gets even worse for them. Lawrence has struggled when pressured this season, completing just 48% of passes when blitzed and seeing a noticeable dip in YPA.

Don’t overthink the “West Coast team traveling East” angle. Under Pete Carroll, the Seahawks have won 21 of 27 early kickoffs in the Eastern time zone over the last decade. They prepare for it well, and their physicality usually travels even better.

Jacksonville, on the other hand, is in the perfect emotional letdown spot — coming off a primetime, comeback win and playing again just six days later against a rested, focused opponent.

Add in the fact that Seattle is first in special teams DVOA, top-10 defensively, and rolling offensively behind Darnold’s efficiency — this looks like a matchup where the wrong team is favored.

This game checks every box: motivational edge, statistical value, and matchup advantage. Seattle is healthier, more balanced, and playing better football on both sides of the ball. Jacksonville’s win last week created false confidence — but under the hood, the cracks are obvious.

Sam Darnold stays hot, JSN and Kupp make plays, and the Seahawks’ front seven keeps Trevor Lawrence under duress. Seattle takes advantage of the letdown spot and leaves Jacksonville with a statement road win.
