5 Minute ReadChargers vs. Seahawks Prediction: Can Justin Herbert, Chargers Fight Back After Disastrous Start?
Los Angeles is 0-3 but has shown more competitiveness than its record suggests, most recently pushing Buffalo deep into the fourth quarter before losing 24-16. Seattle is 2-1 after a turnover-filled 33-31 loss at Washington ended its 12-game winning streak.
The Seahawks are laying seven points at Lumen Field with a total of 43. Los Angeles has lost every game, but the Chargers have faced Arizona, Las Vegas and Buffalo and now get a number the FairPlay AI projection believes is several points too large.
Chargers vs. Seahawks Recent Results
Los Angeles Chargers (0-3)
The Chargers lost 24-16 in Buffalo despite forcing five Bills turnovers. Los Angeles led for portions of the game but repeatedly settled for field goals, including one possession that reached first-and-goal from the 3 before producing only three points.
Justin Herbert and the offense have been competitive without finishing enough drives. The defense showed major improvement against Buffalo, but Los Angeles is still waiting for the complementary performance that turns a close game into a win.
Seattle Seahawks (2-1)
Seattle lost 33-31 at Washington despite outgaining the Commanders 437-258. Darnold threw for a career-high 379 yards and four touchdowns in his first full game of the season, but three Seattle turnovers directly produced Washington touchdowns.
The underlying performance was considerably stronger than the result. Seattle averaged 6.8 yards per play and held Washington to 4.0, but the turnover margin erased those advantages.

Chargers vs. Seahawks Line Movement and Betting Splits
Seattle has remained around a touchdown favorite for most of the week, while the total has edged down from approximately 43.5 to 43. The lack of major spread movement is notable considering the enormous difference between the teams' records.
Seattle is attracting more than 60% of spread tickets and roughly three-quarters of the handle. Los Angeles therefore represents the less popular side despite getting the full touchdown.
Chargers vs. Seahawks Team News and Injuries
Los Angeles Chargers
Ladd McConkey is questionable with a foot injury after returning to limited practice. Derwin James is also questionable with a hamstring injury, while Elijah Molden, Donte Jackson and Trey Lance carry questionable designations.
The Chargers will be without defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson, guard Kayode Awosika, receiver Brenen Thompson and tight end Charlie Kolar. Khalil Mack and Bud Dupree are off the injury report and available.
Seattle Seahawks
Seattle's backfield is thinner than usual. Rookie Jadarian Price has been placed on injured reserve with a chest injury, while Zach Charbonnet remains unavailable as he continues recovering from last season's ACL tear.
Julian Love returns after missing Week 3 with a calf injury, a significant boost for the secondary. Ty Okada and Chazz Surratt are questionable, while Darnold is fully available after showing no limitations against Washington.
Chargers vs. Seahawks Prediction
Los Angeles has reached the point where simply calling the Chargers unlucky is not enough. They have repeatedly created opportunities without finishing them, and settling for field goals in Buffalo was another example of failing to convert strong stretches into touchdowns.
Still, that profile can be useful when getting seven points. The Chargers forced five takeaways against one of the NFL's best teams and remained competitive in Buffalo despite leaving substantial points on the field.
Herbert provides the most important ingredient for an underdog at this number. Seattle's defense is good enough to create pressure, but Herbert can attack outside structure and keep Los Angeles alive in long-yardage situations that bury lesser quarterbacks.
McConkey's availability matters significantly. If he plays, Herbert retains his best separator against a Seattle secondary getting Love back. If McConkey is limited, the Chargers will need more from their tight ends and running backs underneath.
Seattle's Week 3 offensive explosion was real, but the 33 points Washington scored were heavily inflated by turnovers. The Seahawks defense actually held the Commanders to 258 yards, meaning Los Angeles cannot expect possessions to come easily.
The FairPlay AI projection is the strongest reason to take the full touchdown. Seattle is projected as only a 4.5-point favorite with a 65% win probability. Against an actual line of -7, the model gives Los Angeles approximately 2.5 points of spread value.
Seven is also one of the NFL's most valuable key numbers. Seattle can rebound and win the game without covering, and a 24-20 or 27-21 result puts the Chargers safely inside the number.
Chargers vs. Seahawks Best Bet
- Best Bet: Chargers +7 (-105) Check out these best odds at DraftKings Sportsbook
The Chargers are winless, but their underlying play has been more competitive than 0-3 suggests. Herbert plus the full touchdown is attractive against a Seattle team coming off an emotionally draining loss, particularly with FairPlay AI pricing the Seahawks closer to -4.5.
