2022 PGA Championship Best Bets: Will Corey Conners Finish Strong?

The PGA Championship will be held at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma and it begins tomorrow. It's a major so that means we should be betting it. Honestly, I was turned off by the $18 beers that I heard were being sold but I'll let it go since it was a major. I haven't decided what I'll be drinking this weekend but I guarantee you it won't be $18 beers. That's my promise to you. I'm actually boycotting $18 beers for this weekend. This way I can still bet the tournament and feel good about myself.

Anytime you can gamble and feel good about it, that's a good thing. Anyway, we haven't seen this course in a while so we can't really use course history for much. I'm all for that anyway since I'm more of a galaxy brainer when it comes to golf betting. I don't want the easy stuff. I took my lunch break today and devoted the whole thing (most of it) to Southern Hills research so I know what I'm doing now. I've pretty much figured the whole thing out at this point. Here's what I'm doing.

Bet $5 to win $100 on the PGA Championship

Talor Gooch Top 40 (+140) (Bet $100 to win $140)

This one is my favorite one of the weekend because there's legit no chance it loses. I took it at DraftKings because the people at FanDuel are wise to this guy. As they should be. They've got him at +115 for this same exact bet. It just goes to show how sharp these FanDuel people are. You can't just give a guy like Gooch away for +140 here. It's almost like DraftKings is trying to give away money.

Let me tell you a little bit about Talor Gooch. For one, I played little league with a kid named Joey Gooch. All time last night. The kid raked. The thing about this Gooch is he went to school in Oklahoma. This course is pretty much like going home for him. On top of that, he's finished top 20 in three of his last five outings. He's in good form. In terms of majors, he's only been in five of them but he's made the cut in four. He'll be hanging around all weekend. We just need him to finish in the Top 40. That feels easy.

Corey Conners Top 20 (+220) (Bet $100 to win $220)

I had to go to DraftKings for this one but FanDuel was definitely more competitive in this market. They've got Conners at +200 for a Top 20 finish so that's not all bad. It's not +220 but it's definitely playable. I didn't check BetMGM so you may want to look there if that's your spot. Still, I bet they stay in line with DraftKings like they always seem to do.

If you don't know about Corey Conners, you're missing out. He's the next great thing (probably). If you want to talk about form, this guy is bout it, bout it. First off, he hasn't finished worse than 35th in any of his last five tournaments. We're talking three Top-12s here people. In terms of majors, he just finished Top 10 at the Masters. I don't think this guy has seen his ceiling and all we need him to do is finish in the Top 20 and we get paid off. This feels easy.
