LIV Golf Boston Odds, Picks, and Longshot Predictions

After a month off, the LIV Golf series returns this weekend in Boston as their fourth event gets underway on Friday afternoon. As has been the tradition over the first three events, new stars will be on hand this week after defecting from the PGA Tour, this time the No. 19 and No. 2 players in the world, Joaquin Niemann and Cameron Smith, respectively.

With the PGA Tour season now in the rearview, the golf calendar can now turn its attention to LIV over the next few months as the season stretches deep into the fall. Let’s take a closer look at where the action will be played this week, and who might find success at LIV Golf Boston.

Course Preview: The International Golf Club

In what will be a new course for everyone, The International comes in at 7,944 yards and is a par 70. On a tree-lined course with thick rough, players who find the middle of the fairway will find success, as longer hitters will have no problem overpowering it.

With two par 4s measuring over 500 yards and five par threes, players will be tested this week and those with strong approach games should excel.

LIV Golf: Boston Event Preview

As with all LIV Golf events, this one will be a three-day 54-hole event that gets started with a shotgun-style start (all players teeing off at once). In addition to their usual live streams on LIVGolf.com, Facebook, and YouTube, LIV Golf Boston will also be streamed on the streaming service DAZN.

As for the event itself, while Smith and Niemann, the latter of which will be the youngest PGA Tour winner to defect, there’s another big name in March Leishman making his debut this week. Let’s take a closer look at the two players I have my eye on.

LIV Golf: Boston Favorites

Dustin Johnson (+600) (Bet $100 to win $600)

For the first time in any LIV events, Dustin Johnson won’t tee off the favorite at that honor now belongs to the newly acquired Cam Smith. Which I think is exactly where we see DJ excel.

In the mix in all three events thus far, DJ trailed the leader by one stroke heading into the final round in Bedminster, ultimately finishing T2 despite three straight days in the 60s. Finishing top 25 or better in his final two PGA Tour events, both majors, I think we see DJ get his first win here at a course in Boston that can be taken advantage of by long hitters.

Averaging over 315 yards per drive, look for DJ to find success here in Boston.

LIV Golf: Boston Longshots

Bryson DeChambeau (+2200) (Bet $100 to win $2200)

Another long hitter I think flying under the radar this week is Bryson DeChambeau. Having played in just three PGA Tour events this summer, DeChambeau still ranks No. 37 in the world and finished T8 at The Open Championship in July.

Like DJ, DeChambeau also hits a monster drive averaging just shy of 320 this past season on the PGA Tour. Adding a deceptively good approach game, and I like for DeChambeau to find success here in Boston.
