Farmers Insurance Open First Round Leader Prediction
The Farmers Insurance Open will begin on a Wednesday to end on Saturday because the NFL Conference Championship games are played on Sunday.
As usual, two courses will be used during the competition (Torrey Pines South and Torrey Pines North). On Wednesday and Thursday, each participant will play a round on both courses, and the final two rounds will begin with a 36-hole cut at Torrey Pines South. Torrey Pines North is shorter and simpler to play, so after the opening round, I would consider placing some bets.

The Canadian won’t be on many people’s radar this week, which I think presents a ton of value for him getting off to a hot start here at Torrey. With just six starts so far this year, Hadwin has made all six cuts, including a T18 last week where he shot in the 60s all four days.
Before last year, he had also made all five of his cuts here at Torrey Pines, including a top-20 finish in the 2021 US open. With the many heavy hitters in this field in terms of popularity, a hot start for Hadwin wouldn’t shock me in the slightest.

There are not many guys left on Tour more overdue for their first career win than Maverick McNealy. Coming into this week, he now has six top-30s in a row, including a T7 the last time we saw him at the Sony Open.
In fact, over McNealy’s last 15 rounds, he has just two that have eclipsed 80, with top-10 finishes in three of his past four events. His ability to put on Poa, the best in this field, also makes him prime for success here at Torrey.
Look for a hot start from the young gun, and with a price also under the radar, a big payout in tow.

For most, it’s nearly impossible to win back-to-back on the PGA Tour. For Jon Rahm, it’s now almost expected. Picking up consecutive wins at the Sentry and then American Express last week, Rahm has finished T8 or better now in all four starts in the 2022-23 season.
The wins have moved him to No. 1 in the FedEx Cup rankings, and No. 3 in the OWGR, and we are just getting started. In addition to his recent play, Rahm has been dominant here at Torrey, with four consecutive top-10 finishes coming into the week.
