2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Top First Rounder Leaders Picks & Predictions

The annual Pebble Beach Pro-Am is a great way for fans to see their favorite athletes and celebrities join up on the PGA Tour every winter. But it is also a serious event on a prestigious course, so who will be getting off to a hot start this year? Johnny Covers breaks down the field and his first round leader predictions.

2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Top First Rounder Leaders Picks & Predictions

One of the most legendary venues in all of golf will play host this week, as the Pebble Beach Golf Links hosts the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Now a signature event, this year’s event will not feature a cut and offer players a total purse of $20 million. With $3.6 million allocated to the winner, the world’s best are of course on hand as Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, Jordan Spieth, and Scottie Scheffler will be teeing it up on Thursday.

Similar to what we saw last week at Torrey Pines, this week’s event will feature a two-course rotation, Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill will split Thursday and Friday, before the weekend is played at Pebble. Unlike years past, Monterey Peninsula Country Club will not be in the rotation for the week. Another change from years past is that the amateurs playing will only play Thursday and Friday, instead of the full weekend.

This being a regular stop for the PGA Tour, there is plenty of course history for almost all the top guys in the field. Let’s take a look at three guys who stand out with the potential to get off to a hot start.

Xander Schauffele CLICK HERE TO SEE WHICH SPORTSBOOK HAS THE BEST ODDS

When it comes to the upper-echelon players on the PGA Tour, none have been more active thus far in 2024 than Schauffele. In his three starts so far at the Sentry, American Express, and Farmers, Schauffele has been dialed, finishing T10, T3, and T9, respectively. Since his first appearance here in 2017, Schauffele has only played at this venue once, a T3 at the U.S. Open in 2019. Already in midseason form, look for him to play well out of the gates.

Viktor Hovland CLICK HERE TO SEE WHICH SPORTSBOOK HAS THE BEST ODDS

Following the best year of his career in 2023, Hovland will make one of his first starts of 2024 at a course he knows well. A former U.S. Amateur champion here, Hovland was the low amateur in the 2019 U.S. Open here as well. In 2023, Hovland followed up those successes with a T13, as his game continues to prove it was made for this course rotation. With a T22 under his belt already a few weeks ago at the Sentry, Hovland comes in this week fresh and I expect him to play confidently early and often.

Max Homa CLICK HERE TO SEE WHICH SPORTSBOOK HAS THE BEST ODDS

While he’s yet to punch through with a win this year (yet), Homa has quietly been playing some stellar golf. Dating back over his past nine events, he’s finished T15 or better in all of them. Add the fact he’s finished T17 or better in his last three Pebble Beach starts, and there’s no reason not to be confident starting Thursday.
