Tiger Woods Masters Picks: Two Bets You Should Make on Tiger at Augusta

Tiger Woods returns to Augusta, looking for a sixth Green Jacket. Can he compete at this year's Masters? Johnny Covers brings you his best Tiger Woods bets.

Tiger Woods removed any lingering doubts about his participation in this week's 87th Masters by turning up for practice at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday.  Woods, 47, has competed in just one official PGA Tour tournament in the past eight months when he tied for 45th in the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Course outside Los Angeles in February.

At the 2022 Masters, the 15-time major champion had his first start in 508 days after being critically hurt in a vehicle accident in February 2021. It was his first start since then. After grinding to make the cut and then shooting two consecutive 6-over 78s on the weekend, which were his worst scores at the Masters, he came in at 47th place.

With redemption surely top of mind, let’s take a look at a few bets I have dialed in for the Big Cat ahead of Thursday’s opening tee time.

Tiger Woods Birdies in Round 1 - Over 3.5 (+105) - Bet $100 to Win $205 at DraftKings

As a result of soreness in his surgically repaired right leg and back, Woods only participated in three events last season. He withdrew after 54 holes in the PGA Championship and missed the cut at the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews in July.

In the future, Woods has stated that he will only participate in the major championships and possibly one or two smaller competitions. Even still, the pattern of the events he has played in is to come out firing like the old Tiger, and fade down the stretch as the years of beatings on his body catch up with him, in addition to the wounds from the accident.

At a course he knows as well as any in the world, I like for a hot start from Tiger once again as he comes out dialed in following the long layoff.

Tiger Woods To Make the Cut (-180) - Bet $100 to Win $155.56 at DraftKings

Yes, Tiger is well past his prime. Yes, Tiger has more injuries than I can count. Yes, most players would never step foot on a golf course again following what he’s been through over the past three years.

But this is Tiger.

It’s become well-established that we’ll only see the GOAT in Majors (primarily), but this is the one he’s found to love the most. Making his 25th start at Augusta this week, Woods debuted in 1995 and has won five green jackets since, second to only Jack Nicklaus (6). With his most recent victory coming in 2019 after his first major accident, Woods proved he can do better in this tournament borderline disabled than the majority of the field.

Additionally, while the “majors only” stance is one I no doubt believe he’ll be firm on, I don’t think Woods would even tee it up this week if he doesn’t genuinely believe he’ll at least be in the conversation come the weekend. While I don’t think he will become Sunday, I do think he finds himself well past the cut line coming closing time on Friday.
