Detroit Red Wings vs. New Jersey Devils Prediction: Can Jack Hughes, Devils Put Up Goals in Opener?
We had a good night on the ice last night, despite falling short on our total in Boston. I am looking to capitalize on that momentum, rolling things forward here into a nice Thursday night slate tonight. To kick things off, I want to dive into a clash between the Detroit Red Wings and New Jersey Devils.

Detroit Red Wings vs. New Jersey Devils Prediction
The New Jersey Devils were one of the best stories of the season last year, and they are coming into the 2023-2024 campaign with their sights set on another postseason run. Jack Hughes, Timo Meier and Nico Hischier are all superstars with a massive impact on this squad, and the capabilities they posses as a unit are endless.
This team is not only fundamentally well structured, they have some straight beasts on the ice that standout and change the game right in front of you. New Jersey had one of the most prolific offenses in the National Hockey League last season, averaging 3.52 GPG and north of 34 SOG per game. I do not expect that effort and consistency to decline, and would be surprised if we did not see a high octane exhibition from them tonight.
On the flip side, Detroit had a lackluster season in 2022. They still have some studs, and they've had all off-season to gel as a unit. I think they come out strong tonight on the road, well aware that they need to be able to keep pace with the Devils offense if they want to have a shot in this one. Ville Husso will be between the pipes for the Wings, after having an average showing last year in his first season with Detroit. Vitek Vanecek starts in goal for the Devils, and while he is a very talented netminder, you can expect a little rust to potentially show here in the home opener.
