Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Buffalo Sabres Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest Odds

We are back with another night of puck in this young NHL season, and I am starting to get excited about the everyday matchups. We are already seeing teams grow and develop new identities. Tonight, The Tampa Bay Lightning and Buffalo Sabres are preparing for battle. With everything we've seen from both squads so far this season, this just screams over for me.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Buffalo Sabres Prediction

Jonas Johansson is no Andrei Vasilevskiy, (to be fair, very few people can ever come close to that caliber of netminder) but at the end of the day the Bolts no longer have a Vezina trophy winner between the pipes. Johansson is 1-1 with a 4.07 GAA and sub .900 save percentage, and now faces an absolutely electric Buffalo Sabres squad. Everyone knows who Tage Thompson is, but he is not the only star on this squad. I expect break out seasons from multiple Sabres.

Playing without Steven Stamkos does hurt this Lightning team a bit, but they still posses a plethora of firepower and have the horses to keep pace in every facet of this game, especially with the season so young. This squad is led by a group of back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions who nearly went back to the final again last season, and the Bolts are not going anywhere. Devon Levi will get the start between the pipes again for Buffalo sporting a 0-2 record with a 3.53 GAA and sub .890 save percentage.

Eight of the last ten games between these squads has seen at least seven goals, and each of the last four meetings have gone over. This number is high for my liking, and I hate playing a total of seven, but I am not buying 6.5 at -165. I'll take a push if it comes down to a 4-3 game.
