Both teams have featured up-and-down offensive play so far, but the Capitals arrive hot off of a road win over the Devils. Can they keep it going in a high scoring affair on Friday? Minnesota Wild vs. Washington Capitals Prediction: Will Capitals Keep the Offensive Momentum Going?

We have a relatively small slate here Friday night but we have some solid action on the ice with a six game slate to choose from, and I am ready to dive in. The Minnesota Wild are in our Nation's Capital for a clash with the Washington Capitals, in what I am expecting to be one of the best games on the board tonight.

Minnesota Wild vs. Washington Capitals Prediction

Minnesota is currently sporting the fifth best offense in the league with a 3.86 GPG average despite a power play percentage of just 16%. That actually is good news in my eyes because that not only means they are due for some positive regression, but that they are also playing exceptionally well 5v5.

Washington showed signs of life for the first time all season in their clash with the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. They scored three straight in the first period to jump out to a commanding lead, before conceding four straight and losing the lead in the second period. It looked like another bad night for the Caps until they came out firing in the third period to tie the game, and once they retook the lead they never gave it back.

They had scored just seven goals in their previous four games combined, but after dropping six on the road against a very talented New Jersey squad and netminder, I like them to keep the momentum rolling forward tonight. Four of the last five meetings between these two squads saw at least six goals, with the one game missing by just one goal.
