Well I have not gotten into my first period bets for our article plays yet this season, but it is time. There are quite a few matchups I think are very advantageous for us to jump on today, and we are going to dive into two of my favorites.
Buffalo Sabres vs. Carolina Hurricanes Prediction
This is the juiciest straight bet I have given out on the ice this season. I will normally never do such a thing, but I do not want to mess around and parlay this as I think it hits, it's that simple.
Carolina's defensive woes this season have been brutal, they are conceding a lot of goals and are now without goalie Fredrick Anderson. The first period has gone over in 8/12 games for the Canes this season; they are scoring 0.92 GP1P and conceding 1.42 GP1P, third worst in the league.
On the flip side, Buffalo is tied for the best first period over team in the league hitting in 10/12 games thus far, averaging 1.08 GP1P and conceding 1.25 GP1P. I love this bet, I will take the juice.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. San Jose Sharks Prediction
San Jose is still winless and has gotten continuously throttled, conceding 20 goals in just their last two games. With a couple days off and being back on home ice tonight, I have to think they come out stronger than they have over their last two games, and this is honestly the most winnable matchup they have had. Winless after 11 games is unacceptable for anyone, but I will give them some sympathy as they have played a gauntlet of a schedule.
On the flip side, Philly looks much better and they do not want to be the first team to lose to the Sharks, so they will show up as well. Philly is tied for the best first period over team in the league right now at 10/12 on the season.
