Vancouver Canucks vs. Colorado Avalanche Prediction: Can J.T. Miller, Canucks Bounce Back After Barnburner?

I love having boards like this on back-to-back days, shoutout President's Day for making this an epic week of hockey. Tonight, we have a beautiful little eight game slate, and I am ready to dive into what I believe should be the most exciting of them all. The Vancouver Canucks (37-14-6) are in Denver, Colorado for a clash with the Avalanche (34-18-4) at Ball Arena, in what should be a slugfest between two of the league's juggernauts.

Vancouver Canucks vs. Colorado Avalanche Prediction

Very rarely does a team have a better record than the Colorado Avalanche, only five teams in the league do. What's even more rare is a team that outscores the Avalanche, only two teams in the league do that. Vancouver does both, and is coming off of one of the most epic hockey games in the last decade. After taking a commanding 5-2 lead over the Minnesota Wild, they conceded eight goals in the next 22 minutes to lose 10-7. Moving on.

This is the ultimate recipe for a high-scoring affair with Colorado sporting a 3.66 GPG average and Vancouver sitting at 3.72 GPG. Unless Rick Tocchet beat the Canucks into submission overnight and found a way to keep pucks out of their own net, this should be another lightshow. Not only do I expect Vancouver to be pissed off and hungry to win, they should also be a bit sloppy after playing in such a crazy game yesterday, and getting the back-to-back off a travel day. They are so talented offensively and should score, but Colorado will bring plenty of pace to force the issue. The Avalanche have not been great out of the break, so they should play well too.
