ANALYSIS

Colorado Avalanche vs. Vancouver Canucks Prediction: Can Nathan MacKinnon, Avs Start Hot in Vancouver?

We have a smaller NHL slate here today, but still some solid games to choose from, and two TNT games which tend to always be exciting. We are going to the last game on the board here tonight for this one, and I am excited for this meeting. The Vancouver Canucks (42-17-7) are hosting the Colorado Avalanche (41-20-5) for a clash at the Rogers Arena in British Columbia. These two heavyweights met last month when Colorado walked away with a 3-1 victory, and the Avalanche have won three straight head-to-head.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Vancouver Canucks Prediction

These are two of the squads that are considered Stanley Cup hopefuls, and for good reason - both are on four game winning streaks, and head into this one with all the momentum they could ask for. These two squads rank second and third-best in the league for the first period over this season, both hitting north of a 63% clip, and I think things can start hot tonight. Vancouver has gone under in five straight so they are due for some early scoring, and a clash between two of the top offensive teams in the league is a recipe for it. Colorado had a great win last night in Calgary scoring six goals, and should want to roll momentum forward into this one.

Casey DeSmith has not been bad, but with a sub .900 save percentage that can cause trouble against a team that has scored 20 goals in their last five games. Alexander Georgiev should get the nod for the Avalanche, sporting a 2.85 GAA and .901 save percentage.
