Colorado Avalanche vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction: Can Nathan MacKinnon, Avalanche Light the Lamp?

This last play here is a bit juicy but I really don't mind it, I think we get there. The Colorado Avalanche (42-20-5) are heading up north to Alberta, Canada for a clash with the Edmonton Oilers (40-21-3) at the Rogers Place in what should be an incredible game.

These two heavyweights are among the top of the class for not just their conference but the league as a whole - incredible, generational talent on both sides with strong players up front and on the back end. If this was a special teams three-on-three or four-on-four game for a full 60 it would be like a video game, that's the level of talent these two teams have.

When these squads meet fireworks tend to ensue and that has been going on for a while. If this was in Colorado at Ball Arena I might think a bit differently but with this being in Edmonton, I like this total. Dating back to the playoff series that saw two games clear double digits with goals, the pace these teams play with when they meet is outrageous.

If we can avoid a slow first 30 minutes, I think we get there one way or another and if things get started early, we could see another second period winner. Edmonton's last game at home saw a five goal first period against Washington. Colorado rides into this one on six straight wins and scoring with ease. Colorado is soaring a league best 3.72 GPG and Edmonton is not far behind at 3.55; take the over.
