We have a lovely Sunday slate here on the ice to act as an excellent side dish to The Players Championship and I am all for it. The first game we are diving into is the earliest in what should be an awesome rivalry clash between the New York Islanders (29-22-15) and the New York Rangers (44-18-4) as these two cross town rivals clash at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

I understand the line being where it is in a sense - Igor Shesterkin is presumably in net for the Rangers sporting a 2.66 GAA, .91 sv % and two shutouts on the season. Even if he does not go, Jonathan Quick has been unbelievable for the Rangers this season with a resurgence into form that has seen him sport a 2.46 GAA through twenty games with a .916 sv% and two shutouts as well. On the flip side, Ilya Sorokin is one of the most underrated net minders on the planet - sporting a 2.99 GAA and .91% and two shoutouts, he is highly capable as well.
I just can't ignore the head-to-head history here and I don't see how more people aren't. In the last five meetings between these two squads, every game has cleared this number and none of them have been one sided efforts. Only one game saw six goals in a 4-2 affair, every other game saw seven plus goals with each squad scoring a minimum of three. There is so much talent on both sides of the ice here and the rivalry brings out the best in these squads, I think we see six here one way or another.
