Back to the ice with one of the last loaded slates of the season and I am digging this central division matchup. The Minnesota Wild (37-31-9) are on the road for a clash with the Colorado Avalanche (48-24-6) at Ball Arena in Denver and I expect the home team to carry us to victory here in this one.

There is one reason to not bet Colorado here: the Wild are not mathematically out of playoff contention yet. With that said, the odds are very much not in their favor, they need everything to go wrong for the teams in the wild card spots currently and they must win out, likely in regulation. That is unlikely, I question the motivation and effort we see here out of a squad that has lost four of their last six.
On the flip side, Colorado has nothing to prove but those boys hate losing, and are going to want some stronger momentum heading into the playoffs. They have lost three of their last four and two straight by multiple goals to playoff teams, which is simply something they do not do. Columbus beat them on a fluke game, but Edmonton and Dallas really handed it to them. I do not expect the Avalanche to drop four of five here, especially considering they are not resting anyone yet. They are also still playing for the top seed, and I think they right the ship here tonight on home ice.
