Detroit Red Wings vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction: Can Red Wings Get Pucks Past Ilya Samsonov?
Not going to be going too crazy on hockey here this next week with motivation constantly changing (some teams have plenty, other teams have none) but I do like this spot and am willing to bite. The Detroit Red Wings (38-32-9) are heading up north their final meeting of the season with the Toronto Maple Leafs (46-24-9) at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario and I think we see goals here.

Detroit Red Wings vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction
Neither net minder cause much concern for me. Jame Reimer is 9-8-2 with a 3.03 GAA and faces a Toronto squad tonight ranked third in the league in scoring with a 3.65 GPG average and a stellar power play. Auston Matthews is just two goals shy of 70 and will undoubtedly be trying to achieve that.
On the flip side, Ilya Samsonov will be between the pipes for the Maple Leafs sporting a 3.08 GAA, sub .900 save percentage and a record of 23-7-7. Detroit scores plenty themselves with a 3.27 GPG average and will be well aware they need to light up the Leafs to have a chance at winning.
Major home edge for a Leafs squad jockeying for positioning but this is life or death for the Wings. They are 10th in the East but just one point out of the final wild card spot; they will win or go down in flames trying so I expect a lot of pace here tonight.
