Washington Capitals vs. New York Rangers Prediction: Can Alexander Ovechkin, Capitals Find Success in Game 2?
The Washington Capitals hung around in the first game of their series against the New York Rangers on Sunday. They ended up losing 4-1, but this game was tied 0-0 after the first period. With both teams set to face off for the second game of this series on Tuesday, will we see a similar outcome?

Washington Capitals vs. New York Rangers Prediction
If the Capitals want any chance of winning this game or keeping it close, they are going to have to dominate on defense. They don’t score much, as we saw in game one, but if Tom Wilson and the scrappy Caps are able to bring the physicality like they did in the first period of the first game, I don’t see how they don’t replicate the same results…
I am going to bet the first period under in this series until it loses. The Rangers don’t need to come out firing in the first period, and I’m expecting them to play defensive early-on like they did in the first game of the series. We don’t have to worry about Washington’s offense scoring against Igor in net; he is one of the best goalies in hockey and should dominate once again at home.
Alexander Ovechkin was held to zero shots on goal against the Rangers on Monday. They did a great job of locking-up the future Hall of Famer, limiting his scoring opportunities. Without Ovechkin ripping puck, the Caps have zero chance to put up a big number in this game against Igor and the Rangers. Until he starts finding more success in this series, I feel comfortable playing the 1P under.
We expected this series to be low-scoring, and although it might be square, I just don’t see two pucks finding the back of the net early in this game. I’m expecting a similar start to game two that we saw on Sunday with both teams limited offensively as both teams feel each-other out early on. Bet the 1P under once again; I’ll meet you at the cash counter.
