Los Angeles Kings vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction
We have had some electric kick off's to most of these series', and tonight's slate has three great games on tap, one in a split series and the other two coming off of high scoring affairs. I want to dive into the late night slate here as the Los Angeles Kings look to even up the series with the Edmonton Oilers in Alberta before heading home, and will desperately be trying to avoid the 0-2 start. On the flip side, Edmonton made it clear at the start of the season: cup or bust. I expect the foot to stay on the gas pedal for the entire series, and for that reason, I like goals.
Right back to the well here, we saw 11 goals in the first game of this series on Monday night, and I expect more of the same here again. Los Angeles would obviously love to play a defensively sound low scoring game, but I do not find that plausible. There is just no way to really slow down this Edmonton offense, and they seem to have an extra step in the playoffs. The power play is on fire, the pace has been unreal. Los Angeles will have to score to win with who they have between the pipes. The over 5.5 has cleared in 11/14 head-to-head in the postseason in the last three years, and after what we saw the other night, I see no reason to expect anything different.
Sometimes, the juice is worth the squeeze.
