Thursday Racing Picks: Belmont Park

Who’s In Charge looks the play here and morning line odds of 5/2 look fair. The selection is more unexposed than most in this field and was mightily impressive when winning by nearly four lengths at Aqueduct in January. The break is a slight question mark but you’d expect Danny Gargan to have him ready for today.

Few come into this race off the back of such a strong run, but that is the case for Dangerous Edge who posted a personal best effort when winning last time out at Aqueduct. Six furlongs suits him well and this three-year-old can come out on top for his new barn today.

All eyes in this race will be on Tankerville who makes his US debut after previously being trained by Dermot Weld in Ireland. Tankerville looked promising in Europe, winning on his debut in impressive fashion, before finishing his Euro career with a solid second behind the classy Lancaster House.  He is very much bred to flourish in the States and you can expect William Mott to win plenty of races with Tankerville starting today.

The star on today’s card is last year’s Belmont Stakes hero Sir Winston and he has a rock solid chance of winning at Belmont again today.  The step up in trip will really suit him and he should have too much class for his rivals.
