We’re taking a chance in race two that none of the unraced horses are superstars, but there’s a good chance they’ll need to be above average to topple Little Alex. Little Alex sets a good standard on his promising debut effort at the track in May and he can put his experience to good use today. He went off 80/1 so you can expect plenty of improvement from race one to two.

Just Might ended last season in superb form, but needs to prove fitness today so is reluctantly passed over in favour of Maniacal. Eddie Kennedy’s seven-year-old returned in great form this season with an impressive win at Gulfstream and can follow up in similar conditions today. He can put his fitness to good use against a number of rivals who make their seasonal reappearances.

Ronamo has been admirably consistent all of his career having placed in nine of his thirteen starts and has managed to find a really weak race to break his maiden. Instigated looks a danger but Ronamo can take race five.

Steve Asmussen has a smart colt on his hands with Earner and you can expect him to rank much higher by the time the season is out. Today will be his biggest test, but he was very impressive last time out and remains more unexposed than most in this field.
