Wednesday Racing Picks: Gulfstream Park

Despite not winning for a while, Speed Franco still appeals as the most likely winner of race four and rates a bet at the morning line odds. The selection ran a really promising seasonal return at Fair Grounds when beaten just three lengths into fourth and this lightly raced five-year-old is expected to come on considerably with that run under his belt.

Baseline would be a danger to all here if returning to the pick of his 2019 form, but it’s hard to forget his poor comeback run when beaten fifteen lengths. Therefore it’s time to back the consistent Desert General who doesn’t know how to run a bad race and has conditions in his favor here to finally land the W.

Race 8 – PICK: Mintz (2/1 ML) - Click here to bet on Mintz with TVG

Although yet to win at seven furlongs, it’s looking more and more likely that this is the perfect trip these days for Mintz. The five-year-old makes his barn debut for Robert Falcone today having previously been with James Jerkens and it’s hoped that this, coupled with the step up in trip can bring about enough improvement in Mintz to take race eight.

Race 9 – PICK: Sugar Bolt (5/2 ML) - Click here to bet on Sugar Bolt with TVG

Sugar Bolt sets a really good standard on his runner up finish here in May and this makes him the one to beat. Odds of 5/2 on the morning line look generous and here’s hoping he’s available at that price at post time.
