Tuesday Racing Picks: Louisiana Downs

Three wagers on Tuesday from Oddschecker's lead Horse Racing handicapper John DaSilva.

Lost all chance last out when making first start off the maiden victory. She acted up in the gate and was then bumped at the start. She then ran evenly while going shorter. Now she drops to lowest claiming level of career and switches to bug boy Kellenberger while making local debut and first start since March. She also makes first start for new trainer and former jockey Keith Austin, who won his training debut on July 11 with Kellenberger aboard. This is his second career starter and despite Smart Pegasus being the morning line favorite, bettors may shy away because of Austin’s inexperience. Don’t let that fool you. He looks like he knows what he is doing.

Race 5 – Pick #11 Toocan Dance (10-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

Cuts back in distance after tiring last out. He finished second at this distance and level in previous start. Now switches to bug boy Kellenberger in third start off the layoff. He does his best when racing further off the early pace than his last two starts. There is enough early speed in this race that he can close into if he can relax a bit further off the pace this time.

Race 7 – Pick #9 Pocket Personality (3-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

Stretches out after finishing third when dropped to this price when making first start since April for Broberg, Jack Gilligan, who is 8 for 39 (21%) riding for Broberg the past month, rode that day and retains the mount here. While she has the early speed to lay close to the pace, she will probably be further back and then will make one run for the lead and gain the victory. She finished second at Santa Anita in September 2018 in only career start at this distance.
