Picks and analysis on Friday's card at Saratoga
ANALYSIS

Four picks on Friday for the card at Saratoga from Oddschecker's lead Horse Racing analyst John DaSilva.

Race 4 – Pick #3 Unholy Alliance (4-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

For the first time in his career, trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. Has a division of horses at Saratoga. While most will assume it is for stakes horses like Math Wizard and NY Traffic, Saffie also has a few allowance horses that have stakes potential that need higher than usual conditions in order to run. Unholy Alliance fits that category. She was stakes placed as a two-year-old when trained by Brad Cox. Saffie took over training last summer and she hasn’t come close to the potential of her juvenile season. Here she makes her first start since tiring in the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie in March. She should stalk a solid pace and then finish well to get the job done versus these. The owners favorite jockey Tyler Gaffalione also retains the mount.

Race 5 – Pick #4 Silent Empress (7-2 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

Usually at this time of the meet, trainers are wondering by how much will Chad Brown win the trainers title. But that isn’t the case this year. Chrosto phe Clement has been on a roll since day one and is the leading trainer at the meet. His runners are ready to run and Clement has been spotting them very well in the proper spots to win. Here he has a first time starter Silent Empress, that is adding Lasix and gets Clement’s go to jock at the meet, Joel Rosario to ride. She has been working well and Clement, who wins at 28% with maiden claimers, should pad his lead over Brown here.

Race 7 – Pick #10 Dynadrive (7/2 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

Another trainer having a surprisingly good meet is Mike Maker. His runner all looked live. Dynadrive defeated claimers at Gulfstream last out when he returned to the claiming ranks. Comes back at the same claiming price while going longer and picks up Irad Ortiz Jr to ride. He has finished in the money in his last four starts on turf and he is versatile enough to race close to the or rate further back successfully.

Race 9 – Pick #8 Artie’s Princess (7/2 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

The Ontario bred makes her first start outside of Woodbine after coming off the pace to win going shorter as the favorite. For the first time in her career she was able to rate off the pace successfully when gaining the victory. She gets a positive jockey switch to Irad Ortiz Jr. And with the outside post position, her versatility will come into play and help her gaining the victory.
