Bay FC vs. Gotham FC Prediction
Bay entered last Friday on a three-match unbeaten run after drawing Boston Legacy FC 2-2, beating Racing Louisville 2-0 and defeating North Carolina Courage 3-0. That progress ended with a 1-0 loss at Houston, where Bay produced 18 shots and 1.16 expected goals before conceding on a stoppage-time deflection. Kennedy Fuller has added attacking quality since arriving from Angel City, but leading threat Racheal Kundananji is unavailable while representing Zambia at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Gotham has gone four consecutive matches without a loss, scoring nine goals during victories over Utah, Washington and Seattle before drawing Portland 2-2. Rose Lavelle scored the winner against Washington, Esther González produced a late brace against Seattle and Midge Purce opened the scoring in Portland before Sam Kerr delivered her first league goal since returning to the NWSL.
The defending champions must now adjust after González, their leading scorer with six league goals, left the club for personal reasons. Emily Sonnett also suffered a concerning knee injury against Portland. Even with those losses, Gotham can still attack through Kerr, Purce, Lavelle and Jaedyn Shaw, giving acting head coach Shaun Harris considerably more high-level talent than Bay can match across 90 minutes.
