Celtic enters the first leg as a -145 home favorite, with the draw at +300 and LASK +350 to pull off the upset. The match will stream on Paramount+, with the winner of the two-leg playoff advancing to the Champions League league phase and the return leg set for August 25 in Linz.
The Hoops have opened the new season in excellent form. Celtic started its Scottish Premiership title defense with a 1-0 victory over Dundee before hammering Kilmarnock 5-1, then advanced in the League Cup with a 4-0 road win over Dundee United on Saturday. That leaves Celtic with three competitive victories, 10 goals scored and only one conceded.

Kasper Høgh has provided an immediate attacking spark, including a first-half hat trick in the win over Kilmarnock. Celtic followed that performance by getting four different scorers against Dundee United, with Auston Trusty, Camilo Durán, Sebastian Tounekti and Benjamin Nygren finding the net. The variety in attack is particularly encouraging entering a matchup where Celtic should expect to control more possession.
LASK cannot be treated like an ordinary +350 underdog. The Austrian champions have also started perfectly domestically, beating GAK 3-0, Austria Wien 2-0 and Ried 4-1. Samuel Adeniran has been particularly dangerous early in the campaign, and LASK has enough attacking form to punish Celtic if the hosts become too aggressive searching for an early advantage.
The larger concern for LASK is translating that domestic success into a difficult European road environment. Celtic Park gives the Scottish champions an enormous opportunity to dictate the tie before traveling to Austria, and LASK has historically been much less convincing away from home in European competition. This is also the first competitive meeting between the clubs, removing any recent head-to-head edge for either side.
The two-leg format makes Wednesday especially important for Celtic. A draw would send the Hoops to Austria without an advantage, while a home victory allows them to approach the second leg with considerably more control over the tie. Celtic missed out on the Champions League league phase last season, so there should be little question about the urgency surrounding another playoff opportunity.
