Philadelphia has quietly become one of the hottest teams in MLS. The Union have won four straight league matches since returning from the World Cup break, including Sunday's 3-2 comeback victory at NYCFC after trailing 2-0 at halftime. Philadelphia Union vs. Inter Miami Prediction
Inter Miami is coming from the opposite direction after a 4-1 loss at Nashville ended an opportunity to take over first place in the East. Miami still enters with 38 points and plenty of attacking quality, with Lionel Messi back in the lineup and Luis Suárez sitting on 10 goals and six assists this season.
There is little reason to expect either team to approach this cautiously. Milan Iloski has already reached 10 league goals for Philadelphia, while Miami can attack through Messi, Suárez and Telasco Segovia even when the overall performance is uneven. Philadelphia's recent confidence should also make the Union much more willing to push at home rather than simply protect against Miami's stars.
The first meeting was one of the wildest matches of the entire MLS season. Philadelphia jumped out quickly before Miami eventually won 6-4 on May 24, with the clubs combining for eight first-half goals and Suárez recording a hat trick. That result provides a strong precedent for both attacks finding ways through the opposing defense.
The no-draw portion adds another layer, but both teams have strong reasons to chase three points. Philadelphia is still trying to close the playoff gap, while Miami is attempting to remain near the top of the Eastern Conference after the Nashville setback. That should discourage either side from becoming overly satisfied with a late tie.
