Kansas City Current vs. Seattle Reign Prediction, Best Bet, Latest NWSL Odds for Saturday, August 22nd

Seattle Reign FC will visit the Kansas City Current at 6:30 PM ET on Saturday, August 22, at CPKC Stadium. Can Kansas City avenge a lopsided loss from earlier this season, or will Seattle complete the season sweep? Check out this Kansas City Current vs. Seattle Reign prediction and best bet for August 22.

Kansas City Current vs. Seattle Reign Prediction: Can KC Current Grab Home Win on Saturday Night?

Kansas City is a -120 home favorite, with Seattle +250 and the draw +270. The matchup airs on ION and comes at an important point in the playoff race, with both clubs trying to solidify their positions in an extremely congested middle section of the table.

Kansas City needs a response after going winless in its last three. The Current drew Angel City 1-1 and Houston 1-1 before losing 2-1 at league-leading Gotham last Friday, although they scored inside the opening minute in New Jersey. That stretch came immediately after a dominant 5-1 win over Racing Louisville.

Kansas City Current vs. Seattle Reign Prediction

The Current still have one of the deepest attacking groups in the league. Temwa Chawinga, Michelle Cooper, Debinha, Croix Bethune and Ally Sentnor give Kansas City several different ways to create chances, and returning to CPKC Stadium should help after back-to-back road matches against Houston and Gotham.

Seattle already knows it can dismantle this opponent. The Reign beat Kansas City 3-0 in March behind first-half goals from Angharad James-Turner, Brittany Ratcliffe and Maddie Mercado. Sofia Huerta supplied two assists as Seattle scored all three goals in a 15-minute stretch.

That result deserves context, however. Kansas City rotated heavily during a three-game road stretch, making six lineup changes and beginning the match with players such as Debinha, Lo'eau LaBonta, Bethune and Cooper on the bench. Saturday should look much more like the Current's strongest lineup than the group Seattle overwhelmed in Spokane.

The schedule also heavily favors Kansas City. The Current have not played since last Friday, while Seattle traveled to Louisville on Wednesday and lost 2-1 despite Mercado giving the Reign an early lead. Racing eventually turned the match around, forcing Seattle into a demanding midweek road game before another trip to Kansas City three days later.

Kansas City Current vs. Seattle Reign Best Bet

Seattle's earlier 3-0 victory prevents this from being treated like an easy favorite spot, but the circumstances have changed considerably. Kansas City gets home field, significantly more rest and an opportunity to avenge one of its ugliest performances of the season. At only -120, the moneyline is reasonable for a much stronger version of the Current than Seattle saw in March.
