Atlanta United vs. Sporting Kansas City Prediction
Those consecutive results provide a much different backdrop for Sunday's matchup. Miguel Almirón and Alexey Miranchuk remain the established attacking names, but Atlanta is beginning to get useful contributions throughout the lineup. Young players such as Jacob and Adrian Gill have also stepped into bigger roles during the recent turnaround.
Sporting Kansas City continues to struggle at 4-13-3 after Wednesday's 1-1 draw against St. Louis. Calvin Harris equalized in the second half, and Sporting actually created the better volume of chances, finishing with 18 shots, but it again failed to turn enough of those opportunities into goals.
That draw followed a 2-0 loss at Colorado in which Sporting finished with nine men after two red cards. Kansas City has conceded close to 50 league goals this season, and its road record has been especially damaging. That is a dangerous profile against an Atlanta team finally beginning to find some confidence in the final third.
The all-time series also leans toward Atlanta. The Five Stripes are 2-1-1 against Sporting, including a 3-1 home victory when the clubs last met in 2022.
