Washington Spirit vs. Orlando Pride Prediction: Can Trinity Rodman, Spirit Right the Ship on Sunday Afternoon?

Washington is a -145 home favorite, with Orlando +310 and the draw priced at +270. The Spirit remain among the leading teams in the NWSL standings, while Orlando enters trying to halt a stretch in which results have deteriorated rapidly.

Washington has gone three matches without a win, but the latest result was encouraging. The Spirit earned a 1-1 road draw against Angel City as Trinity Rodman scored her 10th league goal of the season, continuing a run that has placed her firmly among the league's most productive attackers.

Washington Spirit vs. Orlando Pride Prediction

Rodman has been excellent since the summer break and is surrounded by plenty of creation through Sofia Cantore, Leicy Santos and Claudia Martínez. The Spirit have recently lost consecutive home games to San Diego and North Carolina, but this roster has already shown for long stretches that it belongs among the championship contenders.

Orlando has gone in the opposite direction. The Pride were hammered 5-0 by North Carolina, lost 3-1 at home to Racing Louisville and then fell 2-1 in Portland last weekend. That makes four losses in their last five matches and has pushed a team that once looked comfortably positioned toward much greater playoff pressure.

Barbra Banda remains capable of changing any match, and Washington knows that better than most. Banda scored twice when these teams met in Orlando in May, erasing an early 2-0 deficit and bringing the Pride level before halftime. The Spirit still responded emphatically after the break.

Washington ultimately won that first meeting 4-2. Cantore scored twice inside the opening six minutes, Martínez restored the lead in the 55th and Rodman finished the scoring in the 71st. Orlando generated chances, but Washington's attacking depth proved too difficult to contain for 90 minutes.

Historically, Orlando had dominated this matchup before that result, including several significant victories over Washington in recent seasons. The current versions of these teams look much different, however. The Pride defense has been repeatedly exposed over the past month, while Rodman is playing some of the best soccer of her season.

Washington Spirit vs. Orlando Pride Best Bet

Washington's recent winless stretch keeps -145 from feeling automatic, but Orlando has shown even more serious warning signs. Home field, the 4-2 victory from May and Rodman's current scoring form provide enough support for the Spirit to get back in the win column.
