Venue (City, Stadium) | Etihad Stadium |
Man City and Brighton open an Etihad Stadium double-header in the League Cup on Wednesday, and they meet again at the same venue in the Premier League on October 31.
City are the defending League Cup champions and cruised past Norwich City 5-0 to get here. But their first Premier League defeat of the season, against Aston Villa, has taken some shine off.
Brighton come in on a slump. The Seagulls haven't scored in consecutive games, and they have a long injury list to work around.
The previous meetings record is dead level, with each side winning twice. Two more ended in ties, so neither team has much of a psychological edge here.
Man City vs Brighton Recent Results
City's attack is the selling point. Erling Haaland has 13 goals in 11 appearances this season, and teenager Floyd Samba scored twice against Norwich. The problem is at the other end. City have conceded nine goals in their last four games, and the Aston Villa loss showed this defense can be got at.
Brighton's ceiling is real. They demolished Crystal Palace 5-0 during an impressive attacking run, but the goals have dried up since then. Georginio Rutter could lead the line in place of Charalampos Kostoulas, and Lewis Dunk and Pascal Groß give the spine a veteran look while the attack tries to find its rhythm again.

Man City vs Brighton Prediction & Best Picks
Our Prediction
Our Man City vs Brighton prediction is a 3-2 home win. Both managers are expected to rotate, and City's attacking depth plus home advantage give them the edge in what should be an open, messy game. A leaky City defense keeps Brighton in it, but the hosts have more ways to hurt you.
Best Picks
Over 3.5 Goals in the Total Goals Over/Under market. City have conceded nine goals in their last four games, and two rotated lineups aren't going to tighten that up. Our projected scoreline clears this line, and this is one of our Man City vs Brighton best picks.
Man City in the Moneyline market. The Etihad has been a fortress in this matchup, with City undefeated in their last 10 home games against Brighton in all competitions. Even a rotated City side has more quality than a Brighton team dealing with injuries.
Man City vs Brighton Same Game Parlay
Our Man City vs Brighton same game parlay picks combine a City Moneyline win, Erling Haaland to score anytime, both teams to score and Chema Andres to be shown a card.
Man City in the Moneyline market is the anchor. City's attacking depth and home advantage are the main reasons we lean their way in a high-scoring game.
Haaland in the Anytime Goalscorer market backs the league's hottest finisher, with 13 goals in 11 appearances this season. He could be rested, so check the team sheet before kickoff.
Yes in the Both Teams To Score market fits a City defense that keeps leaking goals. That gives Brighton a way back in despite their recent blanks.
Chema Andres in the To Be Shown A Card market rounds it out. He was forced off against Liverpool, so this leg depends on him being fit to play.

Man City vs Brighton Talking Points
Don't write Brighton off just because the goals have stopped. This is the same team that came from two goals down to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in this competition. The draw has also opened up after Premier League champions Arsenal went out on penalties to League Two club Fleetwood Town, so there's a real prize for whoever wins this one. The Man City vs Brighton betting odds lean toward the hosts, but how much each manager rotates could decide it.
