In our next edition of this 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, we are diving into a highly anticipated clash between England and Denmark. Both squads are currently sitting tied at the top of the group table after securing 1-0 victories in their first game over Haiti and China. Since 1979, these two squads have met a total of 17 times for a rather well-contested series. England has eight victories while the Danes have taken six, with the other three ending in a draw. They most recently met in 2019 when England took the match by a final score of 2-0.

Both squads have spectacular chemistry and play very fundamentally sound football defensively; I do not expect a high-scoring back-and-forth affair in this one. Denmark does not possess a plethora of threats offensively and should work the ball through a few key players to try and net something. England has plenty of weapons, but they have not been firing lately and have not scored an open-play goal since April.
I like England to wake up for the tournament here, but I do not think Denmark will go down quietly; they may even pull the upset. That is why I have two wagers here, one on both squads and one adding some value to England. In the opening games of the World Cup, Denmark took six corners and gave up four to China, while England took seven and gave up three to Haiti. With the game line at o9.5 and both squads playing good defense while needing to wake up offensive play, I think we see a good number of corners.
