Jaime Faria vs. Luciano Darderi Prediction
Faria opened his tournament by defeating sixth-seeded Botic van de Zandschulp 6-3, 6-4, controlling both sets without facing a deciding-set test. He followed that result with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over qualifier Gonzalo Bueno, giving him four consecutive sets won while climbing into his second tour-level quarterfinal of 2026. His recent résumé also includes a three-set win over Stan Wawrinka in Gstaad and a competitive loss to Casper Ruud after taking the opening set.
Darderi received an opening-round bye before dismantling Martinez 6-0, 6-1 in 62 minutes. The second seed immediately established control with his forehand, dominated return games and never allowed Martinez to settle into the longer clay-court exchanges he normally prefers. That performance continued a strong season that has included the Chile Open title, an Argentina Open final and a run to the Rome Masters semifinals.
Faria has already shown he can solve this matchup. He defeated Darderi 6-3, 6-4 at the 2025 Chile Open, using disciplined baseline play to upset the seeded Italian in 80 minutes. Darderi had dominated their earlier lower-level meeting 6-0, 6-1 in 2022, leaving the overall head-to-head tied 1-1 and showing how dramatically Faria has developed since their first encounter.
Home support and that previous victory prevent this from being an automatic repeat of Darderi’s demolition of Martinez. Faria is serving confidently, has not dropped a set and should offer far more resistance. Still, Darderi possesses the heavier clay-court weapons, greater returning pressure and a major energy advantage after barely being tested Thursday.

The straight-sets market remains the preferred angle because Darderi can apply pressure throughout every Faria service game and should control most neutral rallies with his forehand. Faria may stay competitive deeper into each set than Martinez did, but another focused performance from the Italian should produce a 2-0 victory.
